Malta features in the most important newspaper in San Paolo, Brazil.

Malta featured prominently in Estado de San Paolo, the most popular newspaper in Brazil. A five page supplement was published following efforts by the Consul General of Malta in San Paolo, Brazil. The writer describes Malta as the “treasure of Europe.”

Last month, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Brazil Mr Celso Amorim held bilateral talks in Malta with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Tonio Borg in Valletta.

In 2011, Malta imported more than 14 million euro worth of goods from Brazil, while it exported over 7 million euro to Brazil. Imports are mainly made up of sugar while exports include a considerable amount of electrical machinery. There are 23 companies with Brazilian shareholding registered with the Malta Financial Services Authority.
