In two weeks’ time, the Chairman of the London Mayors’ Association, Councillor Robert Davis DL will be leading a 70 strong group of London Mayors and former Mayors on the 2011 London Mayors’ Association Civic Visit to Malta.
The London Mayors’ Association (LMA) represents the 31 Mayors and two Lord Mayors of the 33 London Boroughs as well as former Mayors and Lord Mayors of the London Boroughs.
High Commissioner of Malta in the UK and Mrs Zammit Tabona invited those Mayors and former Mayors who will be travelling to Malta as part of the delegation, to their Official Residence in Kensington, for a pre-visit reception yesterday evening. The High Commissioner talked through the highlights of the Malta programme which he helped put together, while his wife provided the guests with positive hints on places to visit and things to see.
In thanking the High Commissioner and his wife for their hospitality, Cllr Robert Davis presented the High Commissioner and Mrs Zammit Tabona with LMA memorabilia and in return the High Commissioner Zammit Tabona presented Cllr Davis with a publication of Maltese panoramic images and all the other Mayors with a book about Malta.
During the 4 day visit later this month, LMA members will extensively visit landmarks in Valletta and Mdina and will pay courtesy calls on the Acting President of Malta, the Prime Minister and the Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Culture and the Environment.
