The Ambassador

Stephen Borg joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994 and served at the Malta High Commission in London; the Embassy of Malta in Stockholm; the Embassy of Malta in Copenhagen; and the Permanent Representation of Malta to the European Union in Brussels, soon after Malta became a member in 2004.

From 15 July 2009 to 31 December 2012 he served as Malta’s Representative on the Political and Security Committee of the EU (PSC) which brings together Ambassadors from the 27 Member States to discuss and formulate policies under the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy as well as defining the EU’s response to a crisis.

He presented copy of his Letters of Credence as Malta’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to His Royal Highness Prince Saud Al-Faisal on 5 February 2013. 

Mr Borg was born on 1 May 1969 and graduated in Comparative Literature (Master of Arts) from the University of Malta.
