Opening Hours
The Consulate’s opening hours are as follows:
Saturday to Wednesday from 0930h to 1430h.
It is advisable to call for an appointment particularly if the Consul`s presence is deemed necessary.
1. Passport Services
All Maltese citizens residing in all GCC countries and Yemen may apply for a new passport or renewal of their passport through the Maltese Consulate without the need to travel to Malta.
In order to apply for a new passport or renew a passport applicants must personally submit the following to the Maltese Consulate:
Expired Passport
The application, duly completed, for a renewed passport, as well as the expired passport, and all the necessary relative documentation, must be handed to the Maltese Consulate. Upon receipt of the renewed passport, the expired passport would be cancelled by the Consulate and, together with the renewed passport, is returned to applicant.
Passport Application Form
It is important that all sections in the application form are duly filled in following which the original application form together with all the required relevant documentation should be personally handed in to the Consulate.
Passport Sized Photos
Passport sized photos, which must be identical and in colour, should not be more than 6 months old. One of the said photos should be signed by the recommender. Photographs must be in line with ICAO standards.

The Consulate currently charges 300.00 Saudi Riyals to cover courier expenses.
Passports for Children
Both parents are required to give their consent by signing the application form in the presence of the Maltese Consul or of one of the Maltese Hon. Consuls. Parents must produce an acceptable form of official identification.
How to effect payment
Payment of fees may be made in cash.
2. Citizenship
Applications for citizenship will be furnished by this Consulate. Guidance will also be given with respect to requirements and fees payable. Upon receipt the applications, duly completed and accompanied by the relevant certificates, will be forwarded by the Consulate to the Department for Citizenship and Expatriate Affairs for processing.

3. Authentication of Documents / Signature
Authentication implies certifying a stamp, seal or signature as genuine. The Maltese Consulate in Riyadh may authenticate official stamps or seals issued by a Maltese Government Authority. Such documents may either be sent by post or delivered by hand. The Maltese Consulate may also authenticate a signature. In this case the individual, who must produce a valid identification card, must sign in front of the Consul. The fee for this service is currently 75.00 Saudi Riyals.
4. Legalisation
The Maltese Consulate may legalise documents which bear the Apostille Certificate of the Maltese Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the stamp of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The fee for this service is currently 75.00 Saudi Riyals.
5. Marriage
Maltese citizens, who intend contracting marriage in Saudi Arabia, must initially request the Marriage Registry, as well as the Public Registry in Malta, to issue two documents confirming applicant’s free status. Upon receipt of the said two documents the Embassy of Malta issues a certificate confirming applicant’s free status. No fee is charged for this service.
6. Visas
Applications will be submitted, duly completed and accompanied by the required documentation, to the Consulate. Following initial relevant enquiries carried out by the Consulate, applications and relative documentation, are referred to the competent authorities in Malta for processing.

The Consulate in Riyadh is responsible for processing visa applications submitted by residents of Saudi Arabia. Those submitted by residents of Jeddah are forwarded to the Consulate in Riyadh through the Honorary Consulate in that city. Residents of the United Arab Emirates should deliver their applications at the Malta Consulate in Dubai.
In accordance with the Agreements entered into by the Maltese Government, visa applications from residents of Bahrain, Qatar and Yemen are to be submitted at the Embassies of Italy in Manama, Doha and Sana’a respectively. Residents of Kuwait and Oman are to deliver their visa applications at the Embassies of Austria in Kuwait City and Muscat respectively.
The Consulate currently charges a non refundable fee of 325 Saudi Riyals per visa.
7. Other Services
The Maltese Consulate may also:
- translate certain documents such as birth certificates and marriage certificates that are issued by the relevant Maltese authorities; and
- Administer oaths and certify true copies of original Maltese documents.
These services currently have a fee of 75.00 Saudi Riyals.
