Ambassador Mark Miceli-Farrugia is a businessman who discovered diplomacy from a business perspective.
After graduating with an M.Sc. in Management Studies at the London School of Economics, Ambassador Mark Miceli pursued a career marketing beverages in Malta, Canada and Italy. Inspired by his diverse international experiences, he pioneered Meridiana Wine Estate at Ta’ Qali in partnership with Marchese Piero Antinori in 1994 and launched Leila carob-based, digestive liqueur in 2004.
In 1992, Ambassador Mark Miceli graduated in Diplomatic Studies at the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies. In 2002, he was appointed Malta’s non-resident Ambassador to the BalticRepublics of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
Born in 1950, Ambassador Mark Miceli has served on the Boards of Maltese public institutions including the Malta Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise, Malta Enterprise, and Young Enterprise. He also held Directorships in private initiatives including L. Farrugia & Sons Ltd and the Farsons Group of Companies. He was elected President of AmCham Malta (the Maltese-American Chamber of Commerce) between 2005-2007. Ambassador Mark Miceli-Farrugia presented his Credentials as Ambassador to the United States on July 25, 2007. He also serves as High Commissioner-Designate of Malta to Canada and the Bahamas. He is married to a solicitor, Josette. They have a son named Christopher.
